Full Description
July 2008.
Cropmarks of undated linear ditches, possibly relating to a Roman field system, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). A group of faint linear cropmarks are present on a roughly west to east alignment with other arranged perpendicular to them. There appearance is similar to a planned field system immediately to the north (NHER 49180) which is probably of Roman date. It is possible that these cropmarks form a southern extension of that field system. Other linear ditch cropmarks relating to post medieval field boundaries are also present.
J. Albone (NLA), 17 July 2008.
