Summary

Metal-detecting between 2008 and 2019 recovered prehistoric worked flints including a Neolithic adze and Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flakes and scrapers; Iron Age, Roman, Middle Saxon, and Late Saxon to post-medieval pottery sherds; a Roman pottery spindle whorl; a Late Saxon/medieval whetstone; Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval coins (including a dispersed hoard of 10 medieval coins); medieval and post-medieval jettons and tokens and a range of other, undatable and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include undated copper alloy casting waste; Roman brooches, cosmetic mortars, terrets, a bracelet, harness pendant, furniture fitting, seal box and lead steelyard weight; Early Saxon brooch fragments, wrist clasps, a bucket mount and vessel fragment; an Early/Middle Saxon buckle; Middle/Late Saxon strap ends, a hooked tag and brooch; Late Saxon strap ends, a disc brooch and Viking lead gaming piece; a Late Saxon or possibly medieval coin die; Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorls; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval furniture fitting fragments, a stylus, mount, key, barrel padlock, folding balance, candlestick fragment, thimble, harness pendant, socketed knife/dagger handle, lead seal matrix, lead ampulla, lead weights and lead pot mends; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy rings, rivets and vessel fragments, a lead window came and lead weights and post-medieval thimbles, book clasps, hinges, a harness mount, rowel spur, furniture mount, skillet, copper alloy seal matrix, lead weight and lead cloth seals.
