Full Description
7 April 1993. Survey.
Building of flint cobbles with fine galletting, flat rubbed yellow brick arches to the windows and a central doorway - three bays on two storeys, dated to around 1850.
Sunken feature discovered in the grounds; inspected by E. Rose (NLA). Square chamber of brick with an arch in one side. Area of brick paving sunken in the middle to form a V-channel which leads to this arch. Bricks with horizontal skintlings. Typical 19th century cesspit, probably for a urinal. The owner had thought it was a tunnel to the limekiln (NHER 16696) but this does not appear to be the case.
E. Rose (NLA), 23 April 2007.
