A brick barn in the centre of the village, sunk down beneath road level, gutted by fire in 1995 and rebuilt as a house.

Map

Brick barn in village centre, set against the road and parallel with it, sunk down below road level. Of two builds of brick, one in header bond and possibly as early as the 17th century. Thatched roof. Shown on (S1) and seen in passing many times since the 1980s by E. Rose (NLA) but never examined. Gutted by fire in April 1995 and reconstructed as a house, retaining original exterior walls.
(S2) states that it was a tithe barn, but the source for this is not known.
