Map

Field Survey, January 1986.
Not to be confused with Lingate Farm, now Grammer School Farm, at TG 273 316. (S1) uses spelling 'Lingate' for this site, but maps refer to it as 'Lyngate'. Large brick thatched barn, pre 1830. Size of bricks varies greatly. Evidence of braces to purlins. Stable, of brick but completely modernised for onions. Sunken loose boxes removed. Gig house and stable. Bullock shed with metal uprights. Other sheds. All these buildings are late 19th century or early 20th. House reduced since 1835. Farm was large and prosperous in 19th century - said to have been sold off by Ginton Estate in 1919, but this may not be the case. A handwritten account on (S1) says that in 1997 only the cart lodge remained on the site, but all the buildings mapped in 1986 are still shown on the 2007 GIS.
See (S1) in file.
