Map

Field Survey, October 1985.
Small House. Original end wall with gable stack of flint, but brick details replaced in the 19th century. Bridging and spine beams in front of stack have no datable details. Building much reconstructed in 1860 to a much larger plan, with fireplaces carved by the daughters of the owner. Reports of a hiding place for contraband. 'Stones from the priory' reported as found in laying a drain, but the evidence for the attribution, or whether these were limestone or large flints, is not known. A small 18th/19th century barrel vaulted chamber was discovered in 1985, not an icehouse as suggested by the finder, possibly a small cellar or, more probably, a cistern.
