Full Description
February 1993. Field Visit.
Series of low banks, 0.2 - 0.3metres high, up to 2metres spread, forming incomplete enclosures. Possible remnants of earlier boundaries, but drains seem more appropriate in this area (The field to the south has apparent ridge and furrow but this is less than 15 years old and due to difficult ploughing conditions). Visible on (S1). Visited as part of the earthworks survey conducted by B. Cushion, February 1993.
E. Rose (NLA), 2007
January 2026. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
Three east-west banks are visible on vidualised lidar imagery captured in 2021 (S2). Located in the sourthernmost field, these are oriented roughly at the same alignment as the northern field boundary and are likely the earthworks noted in 2007. Their indistinct nature indicates that they are more likely the result of modern drainage than remnants of earlier boundaries or ridge and furrow.
Two north-south banks are also visible in the lidar (S2) in the northern fields covered by this record, located at TG 34673 33547 - TG 34676 30486 and TG 34666 30474 - TG 34664 30446. These may be pre-19th century field boundaries.
H. Hamilton (HES), 19 January 2026.
