Map

February 1946. Aerial Photography.
High House marked on (S1). Four Mile House marked on (S2). (S3) shows trapezoidal enclosure on side of house with trackway leading to it, as well as another to the west. Further enclosure to the northwest with subdivisions. Possibly contemporary with the house as its boundaries are deviated by trackways to the north.

March 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of enclosures and woodland boundaries of probable medieval to post medieval date surrounding High House on Great Thorpe Heath are visible on aerial photographs (S5-S7). The site is centred on TL 8912 8908. High House itself is enclosed by a trapezoidal enclosure, which is depicted on Ordnance Survey First edition map (1889 to 1891) (S1). A series of additional enclosed areas are defined by banks, including a cross-shaped arrangement of banks demarcating ‘Sails Plantation’, see secondary file for details. None of these earthworks have been mapped as a significant proportion of them are recorded on historic maps. An early vertical aerial photograph taken in 1928 (S5) would suggest that these enclosures continued almost as far north as the mere, however these are not completely clear on later photography (S6-S7). The trackways and roads referred to above have been recorded under NHER 53453.
S. Horlock (NMP), 12 March 2010.
