Summary

Remains of a brewery, founded in 1881. A mineral water factory was added in 1883, and the buildings were later used as an apple store. In 1948 it became a fish and chip shop until 1989, and was one of the last to use a coal fired range.

Casual Observation, 4 July 2007.
Brewery founded 1881. Mineral water factory added in 1883, built by William Morton. Details were found in a bottle hidden in a wall. Later used as an apple store and then became a fish and chip shop (1948-1989) being one of the last to use a coal fired range. Main brewery buildings demolished but the stables, outbuildings and underground cistern still remain.

NIAS records:
The bottle found in the wall in 1973 was placed there when the building was constructed in 1881.
The premesis was sold in 1918 and bought up to be used as a fish and chip shop. The subsequent owners of which found the bottle during rennovations.
