Map

Report from [1] that in December 1990 a flight of steps was found in the garden of 1 Exmouth Place, descending to a barrel vault aligned north-south. Householders knew of this, but had never entered it. They stated that it was there before the Second World War and thus was not an air raid shelter. However, Yarmouth was bombed in the Great War and shelters may therefore have been built in the 1930s. Informant would not allow entry at the time of discovery due to safety concerns.
