Map

15 August 2007. Field Observation.
Site of the first sea bathing house, built in 1759. Rebuilt as the Bath Hotel in 1835. Marine Parade was built in front of it in 1856. Truncated in 1903 to allow view of Hippodrime (NHER 34307) from the sea. Converted to Flamingo Land Amusements in 1987. Despite this chequered history, this is still the oldest building on the Yarmouth sea front, and one that marks the change from a port centred on the river to a seaside resort. The building now consists of two storeys and six bays of which four have canted bay windows with flat tops, surviving at upper level. Dentilled cornice, but roof has been replace. Ground floor gutted and brought forward as a single storey amusement arcade. Whole rendered, painted pink with giant flamingos.
