Map

October 2007
Report of subsidence in garden of 6 Chapel Lane, Lingwood, revealing remains of icehouse.
Site visted by E. Rose (NLA) Subsidence, very small, is below the greenhouse. Domed brick structure does resemble an ice house at first glance but is in fact a cesspit or septic tank, with top missing from dome, and glazed pipe entering from south. Date late 19th or 20th century. Probably served the house to the south (not shown on (S1) but of late Victorian appearance). No 6 is a 1960s house in what was its garden.
E. Rose (NLA), 29 October 2007.
