Full Description
Former site of 25 and 27 St Benedict's Street.
Elements previously recorded as NHER 51787 and 51788.
November 1974. Building Survey.
Exterior of buildings briefly examined by Royal Commission (not entered).
At this time 25 and 27 St Benedict's Street comprised a three storey range parallel to the street and a rear wing at its east end running at right angles to the street (also of three stories). The front range had a central entrance flanked by two shop fronts and was all of probable 19th-century date. The rear wing was also of three storeys and potentially predated the front range.
See short report (S1) for further details.

Pre May 1978. Building Survey.
These buildings were examined as part of the Norwich Survey at some time prior to their demolition in May 1978.
Notes (possible by A. Carter) on a building that stood "…in an unnamed yard off St Benedict's Street…" appear to relate to the rear range that extended from 25 St Benedict's. Although the Royal Commission regarded this wing as potentially 18th century in date these notes (which were produced following access to the interior) record this building as having been of 17th century date. It is suggested that the street range may have been divided into two properties in the 18th century, around which time yard buildings behind No 25 were also demolished.
See Norwich Survey sketch plans, notes and copy of (S2) in file.
