Summary

Metal detecting on this site between 2008 and 2024 recovered a Neolithic flint end scraper; a notable quantity of Roman pottery; Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman ceramic tile fragments (including a flue tile); undatable copper alloy metal-working debris; undatable iron slag; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and a range of other, Roman to medieval/post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman statuette of Mars; an Early Saxon brooch; a Late Saxon enamelled strap end, possible strap end fragment and bridle cheek piece; a medieval buckle, barrel padlock, mount or binding strip from casket and lead weight and a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment.
