Map

October 2008. Norfolk NMP.
Three semi-parallel pairs of linear features, which may represent late medieval to post medieval land division or agricultural activity were identified as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 2529 1245. It is difficult to tell whether they are part of the same site, as they appear fragmentary, and are aligned on three different orientations, which suggests changing activity over time. The features are similar in character, however, which may indicate that they may represent multi-phase activity on the same site.

The south western-most pair of ditches, 28m apart and centred at TG 2517 1242, appear to curve towards the northeast, the longest of the two measuring approximately 57m.The central pair, approximately 32m in length, at TG2523 1245, run roughly north-south, although the western-most ditch curves significantly to the west. Approximately 134m to the east, a third pair of ditches was visible, centred at TG2539 1246 and running roughly north west-south east, the longest of the two measuring approximately 18m.

It is unclear whether all these features represent part of the same site, or whether they indicate a shift in use over time. It is possible that they relate to the late medieval to post medieval common edge activity characterised by sites to the north (NHER 50985 and 50986), and for that reason a tentative late medieval to post medieval date has been attributed to them.
