Full Description
October 2008. Norfolk NMP.
A possible World War Two compound or enclosure, centred at TG 2510 1226, was identified from aerial photographs (S1)–(S3). The enclosure appears to be associated with two structures, the northern-most of which is not visible on photographs after 1944.
The compound itself is rectangular in plan and appears to have a concrete perimeter wall, which measures approximately 13m by 17m externally. It is not possible to clearly define the internal arrangements of the compound, and therefore its purpose was difficult to ascertain.
The northern-most structure, is located at TG 2504 1234, and has only tentatively been associated with the other two structures, as it was only visible on one aerial photograph (S1).
The southern-most of the two structures, centred at TG 2502 1222, seems more likely to be associated with the compound structure, as it is located within the same field, and appears to have remained in use for a longer period.
