Location

Map sheet TF93SE
Ecclesiastical BARNEY, NORTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK
Civil Parish FULMODESTON, NORTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

November 2008.
Two oval shaped ponds are shown on the tithe map (S1) and modern Ordnance Survey maps (for example, S2). Only the southern pond is shown on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S3); presumably the northern pond was dry at the time the surveying for this map was carried out.
The ponds are located about 35m to the east of medieval moat complex (NHER 12159). It is possible they were constructed as findponds by the owners/occupiers of this site.
D. Robertson (NLA), 11 November 2008.
