Possible Iron Age to Roman trackways (see above) and possible boundary ditches can be seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S4-S5). The features most likely date to the Iron Age to Roman period; However, it possible that the features may be later in date. The northern section of the trackway may overlay a possible Prehistoric to Roman enclosure (NHER 42054). However, the relationship between the enclosure and the trackway is unclear. The features are in close proximity to Iron Age to Roman settlement (NHER 7586) to the west. The cropmarks of post medieval field boundaries visible on the aerial photographs which are recorded on readily available historic maps (such as S6), have not been mapped as part of this project.
