Map

November 2008. Building Survey.
Level 2 survey of barn and associated buildings at Sunnyside Farm, prior to their proposed conversion to residential use.
Four buildings, designated Buildings A, B, C and D were identified. Building A was aligned north south and was a largely brick structure in Flemmish bond. Two original doorways remain, positioned centrally in the east and west walls. Deep vertical scratching into the brickwork was noted on the northern portion of the western wall. Internally, the building was divided into five bays of roughly equal size. The roof is of modern pantiles. Building A is visible on the enclosure map, giving it a date of at least 1824. Its primary function was the processing and storage of harvested crops.
Building B was built of brick ismilar to building A and effectivley forms a lean-to, with the eastern wall of building A forming its western limit. The southernmost wall was formed of a modern timber frame clad in corrugated iron. There was no evidence of an earlier wall having existed. Its construction is fairly rough.
Building C was an east-west structure appended to the northern half of the western wall of building A. Several inscriptions were carved into the western wall, but only one remained legible, giving a date of 1859. The southernmost wall was originally open- fronted, with three large posts at intervals across it. This suggests that the building was originally a cattle shed.
Building D was a lean-to running parallel to the main barn. It appears that this building was open fronted originally, as its western elevation consists of a series of reguarly spaced posts with a wall plate on top.
