Map

December 2008. Systematic Metal-detecting Survey and Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The eight trenches excavated revealed nine features, including pits, ditches and gullies. A single undated ditch is on a similar alignment to the Iron Age to Roman enclosure noted as cropmarks immediately to the west (NHER 26833). Several undated pits were recorded to the east of the site, and were similar in character to Iron Age pits but did not contain any dating evidence. One pit contained a late prehistoric flint hammerstone and a fragment of daub, and this feature is likely to date from the later prehistoric period. A single east-west ditch contained late post-medieval ceramic building material.
