Map

April 2008. Desk-based Assessment.
Assessment of proposed development site.
No evidence of archaeological remains were recorded in the surveyed site, however the site was highlighted as a good example of a rural staithe or quayside. Cartographic sources indicate a staithe in the village since at least 1797, and maps dating from 1805 show the present staithe to the west of the site. All buildings on the site appear to be of recent construction, although it is possible that the remains of previous buildings may survive as footings beneath the current structures. Trial trenching or test pitting is recommended to locate earlier buildings.
See report (S1) for further information.
