Summary

An evaluation at Peterhouse Middle School in April 2009 revealed an undated ditch which corresponds to a previously recorded cropmark (NHER 43466). The only artefacts recovered during this investigation were a late prehistoric flint flake and a post-medieval button. A watching brief in May 2009 recorded more sections of the ditch identified from aerial photographs.

Evaluation of site of proposed school extension.
A single ditch was found which corresponded with a known cropmark (NHER 43466) and is thought to form part of an Iron Age to Roman field system. No conclusive dating evidence was recovered during the evaluation. Finds recovered during the evaluation comprised a single late prehistoric worked flint flake and a post-medieval button.

Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of school extension and installation of soakaways and drains.
This work exposed several section of the previously identified ditch, although again no finds were recovered.
