Summary

Metal detecting in 2009 recovered a coin of Mary Queen of Scots. Metal-detecting in 2009 recovered a Roman coin. A fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey between January and May 2010 recovered Iron Age, Roman, Early-Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery and a large assemblage of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age struck flint including a core, arrowhead, flakes, blades and scrapers.

January-May 2010. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of proposed development area (Field 18).
The survey recovered Iron Age, Roman, Early-Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery and a large assemblage of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age struck flint including a core, flakes, blades and scrapers. An unfinished leaf-shaped arrowhead probably of Early Neolithic date was also recovered from this area. A Bronze Age collared awl or tracer dating to between 1250 and 800 BC was recovered during metal-detecting.
