Map

April 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A series of undated linear and curvilinear ditches and possible pit features are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1), centred on TG 2840 0567, to the south of Kirby House, Kirby Bedon.

The majority of the ditches are aligned roughly NW-SE and NE-SW and are likely to represent fragments of field system, and where double ditched, trackways. They may be seen to echo the fragmentary field systems identified almost 2km to the east, at Surlingham (NHER 49589).

These cropmarks are fragmentary, and slightly ephemeral, and it is difficult to be sure whether some of the curvilinear marks, for example the curving possible triple ditches visible at TG 2833 0564 may represent banding or striation in the underlying geology.
E. Bales (NMP), 7 April 2009.
