Map

April 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A number of earthwork ditches and banks are visible on aerial photographs (S1) centred at TG 2762 0780, between 34 and 177m to the east of Whitlingham Hall Barns.
A curved bank and ditch, centred at TG 2762 0774 seems to follow the line of a path or track marked on modern maps, but is not visible on the earlier 1st and 2nd edition OS maps, and is therefore perhaps recent in nature. A north west-south east bank, running from TG 2761 0780 to TG 2767 0778, appears to have a ditch either side of it, the northernmost of which meets a north-south ditch that runs from TG 2767 0786 to TG 2767 0779. This feature lies approximately 11m to the west of a field boundary marked on the Kirby Bedon Tithe map of 1900, and as such may represent a medieval to post medieval field boundary. It is also possible that the features may represent drainage features. The earthworks are only visible on one set of photographs, and have been covered by a deciduous plantation by 1996 (S2).
