Summary

A possible Bronze Age double-ditched enclosure, together with associated linear features, is visible on aerial photographs. Although the enclosure is undated, it exhibits similarities to Bronze Age enclosures identified at Hemsby (NHER 27337) and a double-ditched sub-rectangular enclosure excavated at Lofts Farm, Essex. It also shares characteristics with the possible Bronze Age enclosures approximately 500m to the south east (NHER 52114).

Full Description

May 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A possible Bronze Age double-ditched enclosure, together with associated linear features, is visible on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 2824 0957.
Although the enclosure is undated, it exhibits similarities to Bronze Age enclosures identified at Hemsby (NHER 27337) and a double-ditched sub-rectangular enclosure excavated at Lofts Farm, Essex (S2). It measures approximately 34m by 24m externally, and is oriented roughly north west-south east, along with at least one associated linear ditch feature, 9m to the south west.
Three sides of a further possible rectilinear enclosure is also visible to the south east, centred on TG 2822 0954. This feature measures approximately 15m by 13m, and is oriented north east-south west.
The form and orientation of these features is similar to further possible enclosure ditches approximately 500m to the south east (NHER 52114), which have also been tentatively dated to the Bronze Age.
