Map

July 2009. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
This work revealed no evidence for either a medieval extra-mural ditch or the Civil War defences. A single linear ditch feature of post-medieval date was observed, which may have functioned as a drainage or boundary ditch. Finds from the site included post-medieval and modern pottery of 18th- to 20th-century date and animal bone likely to be food waste typical of medieval/post-medieval activity.
See report (S1) for further details.
