Summary

Archaeological work undertaken in this part of the Abbey Farm Commercial Park between 2009 and 2016 failed to identify any evidence for surviving archaeological remains. This work included a small excavation undertaken in 2009 and two subsequent watching briefs that took place in 2009 and late 2015 - all of which recorded evidence for considerable recent disturbance. It does however remain possible that archaeologically-significant features survive in any undisturbed areas, as was demonstrated by the excavation of a nearby site in 2014 (NHER 67188), which identified prehistoric pits and elements of a more recent field system.
