NHER 52977 (Find Spot record) - Post-medieval to modern finds

June 2009. Test Pit.
Excavation of single test pit by local school children as part of the Higher Education Field Academy (HEFA) programme run by Access Cambridge Archaeology.
This test pit (ACL/09/11) was located at [1] and did not reached natural geological deposits – excavation being halt at a depth of 0.70m due to time constraints.
Finds recovered include:
13 post-medieval pottery sherds and 2 clay tobacco pipe stem fragments.
33 late post-medieval/modern pottery sherds.
This test pit also produced a range of other finds that were not subject to specialist examination, the majority of which are either of probable late post-medieval to modern date or inherently undatable. These additional objects include 3 curved tile fragments, 2 flat tile fragments, a brick fragment, 50 unidentified ceramic building material fragments, a slate fragment, pieces of bottle, vessel and window glass, 3 iron nails, an iron bolt, 2 lumps of iron, a piece of iron slag, 2 pieces of burnt stone, 2 oyster shells, a mussel shell and a cockle shell.
