Summary

Metal-detecting between 2009 and 2015 recovered late prehistoric worked flint including a Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age scraper and Neolithic/Bronze Age blade-like flake and scraper; Iron Age and Roman pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and undatable and a range of other, Iron Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an undatable lead weight; a Early/Middle Iron Age brooch; a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch; a Late Iron Age to Early Saxon brooch; Roman brooches, a spoon, finger ring and copper alloy needle; Early Saxon brooch fragments, girdle hangers, a buckle, strap end, tweezers, mount and horse-harness pendant; an Early/Middle Saxon buckle; a potentially Early/Middle Saxon copper alloy unidentified object; Middle/Late Saxon hooked tags; a Late Saxon buckle, strap end, finger ring and Anglo-Scandinavian Thor's hammer pendant; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories and harness mounts; medieval thimbles, dagger-scabbard chapes, a sword-scabbard chape, vessel mount, rotary key, box or casket mount, dagger quillon, harness pendant, copper alloy unidentified object and writing lead; a medieval/post-medieval bell, copper alloy 'paper-clip' vessel repair rivets and copper alloy ring and a post-medieval spur fragment, furniture handle back-plate, copper alloy weight, lead cloth seal and silver stud or mount. The type and number of Early Saxon finds recovered from this site is indicative of the site of an Early Saxon cemetery.

Medieval/post-medieval buckle, 2 copper alloy 'paper-clip' vessel repair rivets and a copper alloy ring.
3 post-medieval buckles, 2 harness mounts, a spur fragment, furniture handle back-plate, strap fitting, copper alloy weight, copper alloy unidentified object, lead cloth seal and silver stud or mount of probable 18th-century date.
