Map

November 2009. Building Survey.
Level 2 survey of agricultural building prior to its proposed conversion.
The farmyard comprises a early 19th century threshing barn with a lean-to structure that probably sheltered livestock. To the east of the threshing barn an extension may have included a platform acting as a low loft for grain storage. Towards the end of the 19th century the threshing barn began to lose its importance as its function was first replaced by threshing machinery and later by a combine harvester and later adapted to house cattle and poultry.
See report (S1) for further details.
The archive associated with this work has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2016.51).
S. Howard (NLA), 29 April 2010. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 27 April 2019.

2010. Interpretation.
The threshing barn examined above was likely actually constructed earlier than the 19th century. The combination of tension braces, arched braces, and scantling points towards a late-17th or early-18th century date.
S. Heywood (HES), 2010.

2012. Building Coverted.
The threshing barn was converted into a residential property in 2012 and renamed Middle Manor Barn.
E. McDonald (HES), 9 February 2021.
