Summary

An undated linear ditch feature is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. It is only visible on one set of photographs, and may be a geological rather than archaeological feature, as there appear to be other geological features visible in the vicinity. However it does appear to correspond closely with a field division shown on the Haveringland Tithe Map, and is likely to relate to a post medieval field boundary.

Map

October 2009. Norfolk NMP.
An undated linear ditch feature is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1) stretching northeast-southwest from TG 1570 1846 to TG 1569 1841. This feature measures 51m in length by up to 3.5m wide, and appears to be isolated, although it is only visible on one set of photographs, and may be a geological rather than archaeological feature, as there appear to be geological features visible in the vicinity. It has therefore been recorded with a note of caution.
A post medieval watermill (NHER 15236) and its millpond (NHER 7789) are recorded nearby, and it is possible that this feature may have been related to the movement of water. It seems more likely, however, that this ditch was a post medieval field boundary visible on the Haveringland Tithe map of 1900 (S2).
