Summary

A possible enclosure is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs on land to the east of Brand’s Lane, Felthorpe. This feature may relate to an area of woodland depicted on Faden’s Map of 1797, to the north of Felthorpe Common.

A possible enclosure is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred on TG 1668 1675, on land to the east of Brand’s Lane, Felthorpe.
This consists of a right-angled ditch, up to 1.7m in width, running east west from TG 1666 1672 to TG 1670 1671, and then north south as far as TG 1670 1677. A second ditch running from TG 1670 1677 to TG 1667 1678 appears to make up the northern edge of the enclosure. The area enclosed measures approximately 66m by 39m.
This feature may relate to an area of woodland depicted on Faden’s Map of 1797 (S3), to the north of Felthorpe Common.
A short (8.4m in length) north-south linear ditch is visible cutting across the enclosure at TG 1669 1671, and may relate to more recent activity on the site.
