Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A number of possible slit or practice trenches within an area of disturbed ground centred at TG 1949 1865 are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2) within what is currently Horsford Woods plantation.
The trenches measure up to a maximum of 18m in length, and 7m in width.
These earthworks were clearly visible before the current plantation was in existence, and may relate to World War Two activity, as they appear to be freshly dug on the available aerial photographs. There are a great number of smaller trenches dispersed all over the area to the south west (NHER 52438), with which these trenches appear to be contemporary. By 1969 these earthworks are no longer visible under scrub and young plantation (S3).
