Full Description
November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
Possible medieval to post medieval tofts or field boundary ditches and at least one possible enclosure are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2) in a field to the east of Poplars Farm, Horsford, centred on TG 1868 1583.
These features do not appear to have been part of the earthworks previously included with NHER 29480, but may be related to them.
They consist of an east-west field boundary which is visible on the Tithe Map of 1841 (S3), running from TG1864 1586 to TG 1868 1586. Several possible internal divisions are visible perpendicular to this boundary, running north-south, which may represent individual tofts.
To the east, a curvilinear ditch that may also represent a field boundary is visible, running east-west for at least 50m, although this is not depicted on the historic maps.
Further south, the northern and eastern sides of a possible enclosure are visible, centred on TG 1867 1579. This feature does appear to correspond with a division marked on the Horsford Tithe Map, to the south of Dog Lane.
