Map

April 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches of unknown date, some of which are likely to represent former field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs to the north of the Keswick and Swardeston parish boundary near Foxburrow Plantation (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 2015 0361. The date of these features is not known, and it is probable that they represent more than one phase of ditches. Finds in the area range in date from prehistoric to the Roman period (NHER 25512, 16226 & 17833-4).
A number of linear and rectilinear cropmarks have been omitted from the mapping in this area due to the presence of cropmarks formed from underlying geological features. The features mapped would appear to be archaeological in origin, although it is possibly that the slightly more irregular ditch-like features mapped to the south, TG 2015 0354 (S1), are also geologically derived.
S. Horlock (NMP), 1 April 2009.

November 2021-March 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable.
The area examined coincided with the north-north-east to south-south-west aligned cropmark at TG 2012 0361 and the 'L'-shaped cropmark at TG 2015 0356. There was no evidence for associated sub-surface remains.
See NHER 66377 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 27 January 2023.

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable.
One of the trenches excavated at this location coincided with the north-north-east to south-south-west aligned cropmark at TG 2012 0361. There was again no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains.
See NHER 66377 for further details.
