Map

January 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A linear ditch running west northwest-east south east is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs (S1) from TG 1417 0100 to TG 1429 0097. A ploughed-out bank visible as a soilmark 111m to the south, which runs parallel to the earthwork ditch, from TG 1414 0090 to TG 1426 0084, but is also only visible on one set of photographs (S2), has also been included with this record.
It is possible that these two features are related to the medieval moated manorial site of Stanfield Hall (NHER 9457), where a chapel is recorded in 1216, directly to the north east, in fact the earthwork ditch is on the same alignment as, and may be a continuation of, the southern side of the moat. It is also possible that they relate to post medieval garden features.
E. Bales (NMP), January 2010.
