Map

January 2010. Norfolk NMP.
Linear and curvilinear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1), on land to the south of Stanfield Road, Wymondham, centred on TG 1388 0033. The features are extremely faint, and only visible on one set of photographs. They have therefore been recorded with a note of caution.
The more substantial of these ditches may represent field divisions related to Stanfield Green, as one of them runs parallel to the road, on a north east-south west alignment from TG 1389 0038 to TG 1384 0029, and a second, also measuring approximately 2.7m in width, appears to be a possible division, running almost a right-angles to the first, from TG 1394 0033 to TG 1386 0033. They may also relate to the Stanfield Farm depicted on Bryant’s map of 1826 (S3).
A very faint feature is visible on a different alignment, which may suggest that it is earlier in date. This feature runs north northwest-south southeast, before it turns through 90 degrees with a curved corner, at TG 1391 0030, and continues on a west southwest-east northeast alignment.
E. Bales (NMP), January 2010.
