Map

April 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible ditch of unknown date, which may represent a former field boundary, are visible on aerial photographs in-between Foxburrow Plantation and Breck Plantation, Keswick (S1). The site is centred on TG 2004 0385. The date of this possible ditch is not known, see below for possible geological origin for the feature, and it is probable that they represent more than one phase of ditches, finds in the area range in date from prehistoric to the Roman period (NHER 25512, 16226 & 17833-4). The possible ditch, 64m long, is visible located on the edge of a gravel ridge running across the contour of the slope. The cropmark is slightly irregular in plan and it is feasible that this ditch-like feature is following a natural, geologically derived, feature within the underlying sands and gravels. A series of blobby pit-like marks adjacent to this possible ditch were dismissed as being of geological origin.
S. Horlock (NMP), 01 April 2009.
