Full Description
February 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmark of a ring ditch, possibly relating to either a Bronze Age or Iron Age funerary enclosure or mound, or a domestic or agricultural structure was visible on aerial photographs (S1) on land to the north of Kenninghall Road, East Harling.
The possible ring ditch was centred on TM 0041 8632. It measures approximately 11m in internal diameter, the ditch appears to measure approximately 0.5m in width, and has an external diameter of approximately 12m.
It is possible that it contains a slight mound, and therefore a funerary function may be the most likely. The feature is slightly uneven in appearance and could feasibly also represent the remains of a later prehistoric roundhouse or agricultural structure, but is of dubious archaeological origin.
E. Bales (NMP), 10 February 2010.
