Map

February 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A possible square enclosure is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3) on land to the east of Swangey Lane, Great Ellingham, centred on TM 0074 9459.
The enclosure of unknown date measures a maximum of 28m by 26m externally, with ditches of up to 1.9m in width.
Other possible earthworks in the area may represent post medieval-modern drainage ditches, but as they are blurred in nature and only visible on one set of photographs it is difficult to be certain. The ‘enclosure’ itself may also represent land drainage, situated as it is so close to a ford into which many drainage ditches have been cut.
E. Bales (NMP), 12 February 2010.

December 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Several possible earthwork platforms are also visible to the east, centred on TM 0800 9460, which may be related to this site, but since they were only visible on one set of photographs (S4) they have been recorded with a hint of caution, and have not been mapped.
E. Ford (NMP), 12 December 2012.
