Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of a series of major drainage channels feeding into a large L-shaped pond are visible on aerial photographs (S1-2) and historic maps (S3) to the east of Poringland. The site is centred on TG 2737 0177. The presence of the large L-shaped pond depicted on the Ordnance Survey First edition map (6 inch, 1889-1891) (S3) and the channels running from it, could be suggestive of a water-driven or related industrial or agricultural site. However no direct evidence of this could be identified on the aerial photographs or the available historic maps and therefore no mapping was undertaken at the site, rather a note made of the pond and drainage channels.
S. Horlock (NMP), 04 November 2009.
