Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a boundary ditch of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs to the north of the Poringland and Howe parish boundary (S1-S4). The site is centred on TG 2718 0067. The western end of this boundary ditch or ditches could potentially form part of the medieval to post medieval field pattern visible on aerial photographs and historic maps to the west (S1-S2). However, the alignment of the eastern ditch could suggest that the boundary was originally continuous and would therefore pre-date many of the boundaries and tracks of that date, although this is not certain. The parchmarks of former bank or compacted strip are visible in two sections to the south of the ditch (S2-S3).
S. Horlock (NMP), 03 November 2009.
