Summary

The cropmarks of a small ring ditch of uncertain date and function are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Caistor Lane, Caistor St Edmund. It is possible that this feature relates to a small Bronze Age round barrow or even an Iron Age to Roman roundhouse; numerous Roman date finds have been recorded within the general vicinity of this site. An alternative interpretation is that these cropmarks relate to the former site of a post medieval temporary agricultural enclosure, such as a stack stand.
