April 2010. Metal-detecting.
Fragments of Late Bronze Age metalwork indicative of a hoard were recovered from the ploughsoil deposited in a square pit (30 x 30cm) cut into natural orange clay to a depth of 9cm. The clearly defined edges of the pit indicated that it was quickly infilled and not left open for any great length of time. Pieces of woven cloth were also recovered and the decayed remains of wood, probably a plank, was visible on the base in the southern end of the pit.

This hoard was submitted as potential Treasure, along with eleven additional fragments discovered between May and June 2010 - see below.

The Late Bronze Age hoard recovered between April 2010 and June 2010 was submitted as potential Treasure (Treasure case 2010 T240) and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2013.112). See reports in file (including British Museum curator's report).

Found following clearance of asparagus from field:
20 Late Bronze Age objects (in 23 pieces). Scattered surface finds but likely to be from the partially in situ hoard discovered in April 2010.
