Summary

A group of undated ditches (and one possible bank), forming a broadly rectilinear pattern, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. They could represent boundary ditches of some sort, and possibly an enclosure, but their archaeological significance is uncertain and they could instead be geological in origin.

Map

April 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A group of undated ditches and one possible bank are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 1448 0983. The features form a broadly rectilinear pattern and could have formed the boundaries to fields or other forms of land division; at their northeastern extent they include what appears to be a small rectangular enclosure. Although prehistoric flints have been recovered from the vicinity (NHER 23857) the features are undated. Their archaeological significance is also uncertain as their origin could be geological, as is the case for most of the other cropmarks visible in this and neighbouring fields.
The small enclosure measures approximately 15.5m long and 12m wide.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 30 April 2010.
