Summary

At least 41 above ground public air raid shelters and two possible ARP posts are visible as structures on aerial photographs in an area approximately 2km by 2km within the parishes of Hellesdon and north Norwich.

At least 41 above ground public air raid shelters are visible as structures on aerial photographs (S1-S4) in an area approximately 2km by 2km within the parishes of Hellesdon and north Norwich.
They all measure approximately 9m by 4.9m, and appear to be similar in their construction.
The northernmost of these is situated at TG 2104 1308, the easternmost at TG 2252 1136, southernmost at TG2165 1088 and westernmost at TG 2025 1206.
Two other possible shelters are situated in the same position as ARP posts documented in Banger (S5); that at TG 2165 1088 may be Post K4, by Norman School, Peterson Road, and that at TG 2195 1098 may be post K6 situated at Aylsham Road by Mile Cross Road.
