Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of possible fields of unknown, but potentially Iron Age to Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the southwest of Markshall Farm, Caistor St Edmunds (S1-S2). The site, which is centred on TG 2298 0407, consists of a series of fragmentary ditches, former field boundaries and possible trackways that are visible as either faint cropmarks or germination marks. Finds in the general vicinity may indicate an Iron Age, Roman or Saxon date (NHER 37009 &37011) although the Saxon finds are likely to relate to the nearby Saxon cemetery (NHER 9788) and not necessarily the cropmarks.
S. Horlock (NMP), 23 November 2009.
