Summary

A World War Two emergency water tank is visible as an extant structure on 1940s aerial photographs. Tanks such as these were used to supply water for fire fighting following bombing raids. This example occupied a bomb site.

A World War Two emergency water tank is visible as an extant structure on 1940s aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 2170 0911. Tanks such as these were used to supply water for fire fighting following bombing raids. This example occupied a bomb site, evident on aerial photographs taken in 1942 (S3).
