Full Description
June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two ARP warden’s post – Post G1: Clarendon Steps off Clarendon Road – is recorded at this location in a bibliographic source (S1). It almost certainly equates to a group of small structures or buildings visible on 1940s aerial photographs (S2), centred at TG 2197 0840. The main rectangular concrete structure is similar to those recorded at the location of other ARP posts across the city. The smaller square and circular structures (the latter reminiscent of an upturned concrete pipe) have also been noted at a few other ARP sites in Norwich, although similar circular structures are also evident in non-military/civil defence contexts.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 15 June 2010.
